Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes patches of thick, pink-to-red skin with silvery scales. It is caused by an overactive immune system that causes skin cells to grow too quickly. The exact cause of psoriasis is not known, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Psoriasis can occur anywhere on the body, but it is most commonly found on the elbows, knees, scalp, lower back, and nails. It can also cause joint pain and swelling in some cases, known as psoriatic arthritis. There is currently no cure for psoriasis, but there are various treatments available to manage its symptoms, including topicals, phototherapy, and systemic medications. A dermatologist can make an accurate diagnosis and help formulate a treatment plan. Regular monitoring and treatment by a dermatologist can help control the symptoms and prevent the condition from becoming more severe
